Donate
A day of survey work costs less than most people spend on a weekend. Your donation pays for travel to survey sites, equipment, scanning, digital storage, student stipends, and archive maintenance. We publish our accounts every year.
Donations to the foundation are eligible for tax deduction under Section 80G of the Income-tax Act, 1961, once our 80G registration is in effect. We will confirm the current status of our registration when you write to us.
There is no minimum donation. Every contribution goes directly to the work.

Heritage Architecture Foundation works at the intersection of heritage, education and public access. Our programmes train young architects, engage school students, and produce research published freely for the public benefit.
We are authorised to receive Corporate Social Responsibility contributions under the Companies Act, 2013, from companies whose CSR mandate covers heritage, education, culture, research and documentation. The foundation is registered on Form CSR-1 with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
We offer full transparency on the use of CSR funds and a clear report on deliverables.
Discuss a CSR partnership →In-kind archival donations
We accept in-kind donations of drawings, photographs, field notes and archival material relevant to India's historic built environment, subject to a formal acceptance process. If your family holds measured drawings of a house that has since been demolished, or photographs of a street that has since been changed, those records may have a permanent home in our archive.
Donated materials are catalogued with full provenance, credited to the donor, and made available under the same open-access terms as all other archive records.
Write to us about donating materials →Volunteer and intern
We run a regular internship programme for architecture students and young professionals. Interns join a survey team for an extended period, learning measured drawing, field photography, oral history recording and archive methodology through direct participation in fieldwork.
We also offer field volunteer opportunities on specific surveys. No prior experience is required for volunteer roles.
Write to us about volunteering →Legacy giving
The foundation is designed to be permanent. A legacy gift, whether made during your lifetime or by bequest, supports the long-term sustainability of the archive and the fieldwork that fills it. Legacy gifts can be directed to the endowment fund, which aims to make the foundation financially independent of project-by-project fundraising.
